Key Responsibilities:

  1. Ensure the secure entry and exit of staff, visitors, vehicles, and prisoners.
  2. Carry out searches of staff, prisoners, visitors, and vehicles.
  3. Escort vehicles and contractors around the prison site.
  4. Issue and collect staff keys and radios.
  5. Patrol and search perimeter fence areas.
  6. Operate the prison radio system.
  7. Monitor CCTV and report suspicious activities.
  8. Welcoming visitors on their arrival and escorting them if needed.
  9. Monitor and log mail coming into the prison.
  10. Report and preserve evidence of contraband items.
  11. Ensure cell doors are locked and all prisoners are safely accounted for.
  12. Photograph prisoners and process their property and parcels.
  13. Supervise prisoners and exchange clothing and property.
  14. Help prison officers escort prisoners around the prison.
  15. Deliver and collect food trollies, or use an electric tug vehicle.
  16. Transport prisoners and escorts to their destination.
  17. Collect mail from the local sorting office.
  18. Monitor the prison's Personal Identification Number (PIN) phone system.
  19. Log PIN phone requests from prisoners.
  20. Complete relevant records.
  21. Understand and conform to national and local policies.
  22. Respond to incidents and emergencies appropriately.
