Job Summary

HM Prison & Probation Service is seeking a highly motivated and dedicated Operational Support Grade to join our team at HMP Werrington. As an Operational Support Grade, you will play a vital role in ensuring the smooth operation of the prison, providing support to our staff and prisoners, and contributing to the overall safety and security of the establishment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist in the maintenance of a safe and secure environment within the prison
  • Provide support to staff and prisoners, including escorting prisoners, issuing and collecting keys and radios, and conducting searches
  • Operate the prison radio system and monitor CCTV
  • Assist with the processing of prisoners' mail and property
  • Participate in night duties, including ensuring cell doors are locked and all prisoners are safely accounted for
  • Perform other duties as required by the prison management
Requirements
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment
  • Flexibility and willingness to work a variety of shifts, including nights and weekends
  • Basic computer skills and ability to learn new systems
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information
