About the Role

We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Data Center Trainee to join our team at Amazon Web Services (AWS) in Hemel Hempstead, UK. As a Data Center Trainee, you will play a critical role in ensuring the smooth operation of our data centers, working closely with the Engineering Operations Team to maintain 100% availability of mechanical, electrical, fire/life safety equipment, and plumbing.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist in the operation and maintenance of all electrical, mechanical, and HVAC equipment within the Data Center/Facility
  • Provide assistance to contractor or data center engineers to ensure proper operation, maintenance of all facility equipment and building racks
  • Perform site walkthroughs to verify proper operation of Facility Equipment and Monitoring System
  • Ensure overall availability and reliability for our customers within our Data Centers
  • Install new rack equipment
  • Decommission existing racks
  • Assist in troubleshooting of facility and rack-level events within internal SLA
  • Ensure all safety procedures are adhered to while performing work
Requirements
  • High school diploma or equivalent education
  • 18 years or older
  • Experience with Microsoft Office
Preferred Qualifications
  • Has taken or is interested in STEM or vocational course curriculum related to electrical or mechanical field
  • Knowledge of generic mechanical-room infrastructure such as chillers, Cooler Units, and fan controls
  • Knowledge of electrical equipment such as switchgear, transformers, and power distribution panels
