Junior Clinical Fellow in Medicine

University Hospital Southampton NHS Foundation Trust is seeking a highly motivated and dedicated individual to join our team as a Junior Clinical Fellow in Medicine. This exciting opportunity will provide the successful candidate with the chance to work alongside experienced clinicians and contribute to the delivery of high-quality patient care.
Key Responsibilities- Undertake care of oncology patients presenting as an emergency and following inpatient admission
- Conduct daily or as needed patient reviews for inpatients, including coordination and review of investigations, discharge planning, and liaison with and referral to other clinical teams
- Prescribe treatments, including blood products, supportive care, and symptomatic therapies
- Gain experience in undertaking procedures relevant to oncology, including bone marrow biopsy, tunnelled central catheter removal, insertion of catheters and drains, with appropriate training and supervision
- Cross cover planned and unplanned leave of other junior doctors, including where needed in other specialties within the care group
- Engage in the care group's clinical governance programme, including audit, clinic incident reporting, and quality meetings
- Attend oncology clinics, subject to time and interest
- Participate in the collection and analysis of local data, with a view to preparing and submitting papers for publication

RequirementsThe successful candidate will have an educational framework equivalent to training grade doctors and will be assigned a named educational supervisor. The opportunity for Continued Professional Development (CPD) is highly supported and encouraged by the trust, with options available to take study leave.
Grades for trust-appointed (non-training) fellows will be paid a basic salary at a nodal pay point linked to the grade, at the rate set out in the National Medical and Dental pay circular.
