ArcelorMittal SA is seeking a highly skilled Chemical Engineer to join our team in Newcastle. As a key member of our operations team, you will be responsible for executing projects, overseeing dayshift team tasks, and providing technical support to production teams.
Key Responsibilities- Execute projects and oversee dayshift team tasks and effectiveness.
- Issue RFQ's for projects and manpower, and plan and schedule equipment maintenance.
- Order commodities and provide technical support to production teams.
- Conduct safety and FPS audits, and assist in driving safety initiatives.
- Troubleshoot and fault find, and identify and execute plant improvement projects.
- Assist in the planning and execution of plant shutdowns, and assist in developing and updating operating procedures.
- Ensure equipment inspection files are up to date.
- B-Eng./ BSc Degree (NQF 8/10) in Chemical Engineering.
- Government Certificate of Competency (preferable).
- Minimum 5 years' relevant experience.
- Good understanding of engineering processes, fluid flow, and heat transfer.
- Good understanding of mechanical equipment such as pumps, turbines, and heat exchangers.
- Preferably experience in a manufacturing environment.
- Proficient in MS Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
- Knowledge of SAP would be an advantage.
- Ability to interpret technical drawings and analyze plant data.
- Good knowledge and application of faultfinding.
- Self-motivated and a critical thinker.
- Good communication and people skills.
- Pro-active problem solving and forward thinking.
