Job Summary

We're seeking an experienced professional to lead our energy system modelling efforts.

You'll be responsible for building and maintaining our GB energy system model, providing critical insights into our network planning.

This role requires a deep understanding of energy technologies, energy system models, and their impact on the power system.

Main Responsibilities
  1. Energy System Modelling: Develop and maintain our GB energy system model to inform our network planning.
  2. Analysis and Insights: Undertake thorough analysis of our future network needs, including new renewable electricity generation, demand, and flexibility resources.
  3. Stakeholder Engagement: Establish strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders to build awareness of industry, technology, and national factors impacting our network plans.
  4. Team Leadership: Engage with stakeholders on energy technology representation in energy systems modelling and develop a skilled team to produce best practice in the energy modelling landscape.

Requirements

To succeed in this role, you'll need:

  1. Energy Expertise: A detailed understanding of energy technologies, energy system models, and their impact on the power system.
  2. Quantitative Analysis: The ability to handle and analyse large quantities of data to support your team.
  3. Industry Knowledge: In-depth knowledge of the GB energy industry structure, including markets, economics of transmission investment, and networks regulatory framework.
  4. Leadership: Proven ability to build and support a skilled team, creating an inclusive environment that enables development and innovative idea generation.
