Job Overview: As an Energy Systems Modelling Expert at Green Cat Hydrogen Ltd, you will be responsible for developing and updating our in-house modelling capabilities. This role involves working on a wide variety of areas, from energy market analysis to development of engineering models with subject experts.

We are offering a competitive salary range of £60,000 - £80,000 per annum, depending on qualifications, experience, and skills.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop and update in-house modelling capabilities in energy market analysis and engineering models.
  • Experience of modelling real world phenomena in code, ideally covering topics such as energy networks, renewables, grids, manufacturing, etc.
  • Develop a fundamental understanding of the hydrogen industry and energy system, apply strong problem-solving skills as part of a multidisciplinary team to solve complex real-world problems.
  • Present and drive initiatives forward independently.

Requirements:
  • A minimum Bachelor's (or equivalent level) degree, with a greater portfolio of work required by less qualified candidates to demonstrate technical competence.
  • 2-7 years in software engineering/working in a quantitative role in the energy industry.
  • Python Programming Skills: Strong proficiency in Python, simulation modelling using NumPy, SciPy, or SimPy.
  • Data Manipulation Skills: Handling complex datasets of various formats, sourcing, processing, and standardizing them as part of an overall data pipeline.
  • Microsoft Excel: Comfortable with Excel in order to process datasets and export modelling results for analysis.
  • Strong organisational and multitasking skills.
  • Effective communication skills, collaborating with team members and explaining technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
  • Growth mindset, adaptable, and willing to take on a variety of tasks.
  • Great team working skills and a desire to work in a multidisciplinary team.
