Executive Director of Food Redistribution

Oxford Food Hub is a pioneering organisation in the sourcing and redistribution of surplus food across Oxfordshire, supporting over 200 charities and community groups. The mission is to continue providing this essential service at no cost to suppliers and charities, with a commitment to environmental sustainability and community support.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Strategic Leadership and Vision:
    • Develop and implement the strategic plan to enhance the Hub's impact and expand its operational capacity.
    • Champion a clear vision for the organisation and lead the team towards achieving it.
    • Conduct market analysis and adapt to trends in food surplus sources and redistribution.
    • Engage and motivate employees and volunteers to achieve organisational goals.
  • Operational Excellence and Capacity Building:
    • Drive improvements in operational efficiency, logistics, and food redistribution.
    • Expand the Hub's capacity and network to increase its reach and impact.
    • Manage operational performance, including achieving targets and effectively managing a predominantly volunteer workforce.
  • Financial Sustainability and Resource Mobilisation:
    • Diversify and strengthen funding sources to ensure financial sustainability.
    • Allocate resources effectively to achieve organisational goals.
    • Ensure robust financial management and stewardship.
  • Stakeholder Engagement and Advocacy:
    • Develop and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders, including community groups and suppliers.
    • Advocate for the organisation and its mission, serving as the public face of Oxford Food Hub.
    • Forge strategic partnerships to enhance the Hub's reach and impact.
  • Governance and Compliance:
    • Work closely with the Board of Trustees to ensure effective governance.
    • Ensure the organisation adheres to all relevant legal, regulatory, and ethical standards.
    • Develop and implement risk management strategies to mitigate potential risks.

Requirements:

  • Extensive experience in a senior leadership role within the charity, private, non-profit, or food redistribution sectors, with a proven track record of strategic planning and organisational growth.
  • Demonstrated success in managing complex operations, including logistics and supply chain management, ideally in the food or related sector.
  • Excellent line management skills with proven experience of developing a high-performing team and building strong relationships with volunteers.
  • Strong financial acumen, with experience in developing diverse funding streams.
  • Exceptional communication, negotiation, and public speaking skills, with the ability to engage and influence a wide range of stakeholders.
  • Deep understanding of the UK's regulatory environment for food redistribution and charitable activities.
  • A passionate advocate for environmental sustainability, food security, and community well-being.
