We are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Substance Misuse Worker to join our dynamic and ambitious Young Person's Substance Misuse Service. As a key member of our team, you will play a vital role in providing specialist support to children, young people, and their families to reduce harm, improve resilience, and live independent productive lives away from substance misuse.
Key Responsibilities- Provide substance misuse assessments and interventions, particularly for young people with complex needs, and assist them towards healthier lifestyle choices.
- Offer advice, information, and harm reduction interventions on a one-to-one basis, relapse prevention support, and referrals to other relevant interventions to address substance misuse and related problems for young people.
- Work collaboratively with multi-agency teams, including Social Workers, Youth Engagement Workers, YJS workers, and CAMHS workers, to provide comprehensive support to young people.
- Lead large group interventions, such as whole school assemblies or groups in the community, to promote healthy lifestyles and prevent substance misuse.
- Develop and deliver drug awareness and harm reduction training to other services within the local authority and the wider partnership.
- Hold a specialist qualification (at least level 4) in a related field, such as Diploma in Substance Misuse, Youth Justice, Youth Work, or Mental Health.
- Demonstrate working knowledge of relevant legislation, guidance, and policy context relating to substance misuse and community substance misuse services.
- Exhibit resilience, skills in risk management, and the ability to manage your own time well, prioritize your work, and possess excellent written and communication skills.
