About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Substance Misuse Worker to join our dynamic and ambitious Young Person's Substance Misuse Service. As a key member of our team, you will play a vital role in providing specialist support to children, young people, and their families to reduce harm, improve resilience, and live independent productive lives away from substance misuse.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide substance misuse assessments and interventions, particularly for young people with complex needs, and assist them towards healthier lifestyle choices.
  • Offer advice, information, and harm reduction interventions on a one-to-one basis, relapse prevention support, and referrals to other relevant interventions to address substance misuse and related problems for young people.
  • Work collaboratively with multi-agency teams, including Social Workers, Youth Engagement Workers, YJS workers, CAMHS workers, and attend relevant support and planning meetings for young people.
  • Lead large group interventions, such as whole school assemblies or groups in the community.
  • Deliver drug awareness and harm reduction training to other services within the local authority and the wider partnership.
Requirements
  • Hold a specialist qualification (at least level 4) in a related field, e.g., Diploma in Substance Misuse, Youth Justice, Youth Work, Mental Health, etc.
  • Demonstrable working knowledge of relevant legislation, guidance, and policy context relating to substance misuse and community substance misuse services.
  • Resilience, skills in risk management, ability to manage your own time well, prioritize work, and excellent written and communication skills.
