Heavy Lift Equipment Technician Job Description:

GAP Group LTD offers a wide range of heavy lift equipment and services, and we are seeking a skilled Heavy Lift Equipment Technician to join our team in the North West region. As a Heavy Lift Equipment Technician, you will be responsible for the inspection, testing, repair, and maintenance of overhead cranes and working at height equipment.

The role involves site-based work, including proof load testing, basic installations, and producing reports/certification for equipment. You will also conduct site surveys, advise customers on lifting equipment selection and use, and support the lifting depot network by maintaining the hire fleet.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Inspection and testing of lifting equipment
  • Repair and maintenance of overhead cranes and working at height equipment
  • Proof load testing and basic installations
  • Site surveys and customer advice
  • Maintenance of hire fleet

Requirements:
  • Experience as a Crane Engineer/Lifting Engineer/Fitter/Hoists
  • Competence in LOLER/PUWER inspections
  • LEEA qualifications (desirable)
  • Ability to work independently and assist team members
  • Customer-focused approach and strong attention to detail
  • Valid driving licence
