Preservation Audio Engineer Opportunity

About Us: The Digital Preservation Coalition is a leading organization in the field of digital preservation. We are currently seeking a skilled Preservation Audio Engineer to join our team.

Job Summary: As a Preservation Audio Engineer, you will be responsible for the digitization of sound recordings held on endangered media and the creation of metadata related to the transfer process.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Digitize sound recordings on 1/4" open reel tape and cassette.
  • Create metadata related to the transfer process.

Requirements:

  • Strong knowledge of obsolete sound carriers and current digital formats.
  • Familiarity with audio recording, playback, and transfer technologies.
  • Demonstrable experience in professional audio archival work.
  • Relevant education to degree level or equivalent professional experience in an archive.
