About the Role

We are seeking a skilled and experienced Railway Maintenance Specialist to join our team at HITACHI RAIL LIMITED.

The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring the safe and efficient operation of our rolling stock assets, undertaking rapid fault finding and diagnosis of any type of fault affecting the service, operational capability or safety of a train and the correction and/or isolation of any components found to be faulty.

This is a challenging and rewarding role that requires strong technical skills, excellent communication abilities, and a commitment to delivering high-quality results.

About You

  • Must have M & E HNC or served apprenticeship with mechanical, electrical disciplines or Engineering based NVQ level 3
  • Sound knowledge of, and compliance to, rules and regulations
  • Good written and verbal communication skills

Job Description

This role involves:

  • Undertaking fault finding and repair of Hitachi rolling stock assets while in passenger service and at outstations / depots as required.
  • Supporting the Maintenance Control team in working with the customer to get their desk(s) set up in the Rail Maintenance Control Centre
  • Liaising with Network Rail staff and stakeholders as required.
  • Confirming that traction and rolling stock assets comply with operational specifications by the use of engineering processes and techniques
  • Keeping SAP record system up to date with clear and concise information of work carried out.
