Ground Control is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Biodiversity Net Gain Specialist to join our innovative team. As a key member of our dynamic organization, you will play a pivotal role in shaping the future of sustainable development.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and manage planning projects with a focus on achieving Biodiversity Net Gain, leveraging your expertise in environmental conservation and enhancement strategies.
- Provide expert advice to internal teams, clients, and external stakeholders on biodiversity conservation and enhancement strategies, ensuring alignment with relevant legislation and best practices.
- Develop and implement Biodiversity Net Gain strategies, collaborating with ecologists, landscape architects, and engineers to integrate biodiversity considerations into projects.
- Build and maintain relationships with Local Planning Authorities, conservation organizations, Wildlife Trusts, and other stakeholders, fostering a collaborative environment.
- Prepare technical reports for planning submission, condition discharge, and Habitat Management and Monitoring Plans, ensuring high-quality deliverables.
- Stay updated on emerging trends in biodiversity conservation and planning policy, applying this knowledge to drive innovation and excellence in your work.
- Manage, mentor, and support junior staff members in understanding biodiversity-related planning processes, promoting knowledge sharing and growth.
Qualifications and Experience:
- Bachelor's or master's degree in environmental science, ecology, planning, or a related field.
- Full membership of CIEEM.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in environmental planning, with a focus on biodiversity.
- Strong understanding of biodiversity legislation, including national and local policies.
- Proven experience in managing projects focused on Biodiversity Net Gain and working with tools like the Statutory Metric.
- Familiarity with ecological principles, habitat assessments, and species surveys.
- Excellent communication skills to convey complex technical information to diverse audiences.
- Experience in engaging with government bodies and local authorities, with established contacts.
- Proficiency in planning software, such as GIS and ecological modeling tools, alongside Microsoft Office Suite.
