Job Summary

The Office for Nuclear Regulation (ONR) is seeking a highly skilled Nuclear Safety Inspector to join our team. As a key member of our regulatory body, you will play a critical role in ensuring the safe operation of nuclear facilities across the UK.

The Role

As a Nuclear Safety Inspector, you will be responsible for regulating the construction of new nuclear build, decommissioning of legacy facilities, and conducting inspections on site. You will assess safety submissions, manage discrete intervention projects, and conduct investigations as needed.

Key Responsibilities

  • Regulate the construction of new nuclear build and decommissioning of legacy facilities

Person Specification

We are looking for a highly skilled and experienced Nuclear Safety Inspector with a strong background in internal hazards and safety. You will have a degree-level qualification in engineering, physical sciences, mathematics, or a related discipline, and chartered membership of a relevant professional institution.

Essential Skills and Experience

  • Previous experience in internal hazards within the nuclear industry or equivalent
  • Demonstrable background in the assessment of complex safety systems designed with multiple lines of protection
  • Experience of implementing safety solutions in a hazardous industry
  • Knowledge of one or more nuclear/high hazard facilities
  • Ability to assimilate, analyse, and provide judgements on new and complex technical issues
