Job Summary

This is an exciting opportunity to join our team as a qualified Education Mental Health Practitioner or Children's Wellbeing Practitioner. We are looking for a skilled professional to work as part of a multidisciplinary team in an evolving service, delivering evidence-based early intervention for children and young people in education settings with mild to moderate mental health problems.

Main Responsibilities
  1. Assess and deliver outcome-focused, evidence-based interventions in educational settings for children and young people experiencing mild to moderate mental health difficulties.
  2. Work in partnership with children, young people, their families, and educators to develop plans for intervention and agreed support.
  3. Support and empower children, young people, their parents/carers, and families to make informed choices about interventions.
  4. Operate from an inclusive values base, recognising and respecting diversity.
  5. Accept referrals according to agreed local and national protocols.
  6. Undertake and record accurate assessments of risk and operate clear risk management processes.
  7. Adhere to regulations, processes, and procedures within the educational service.
  8. Signpost referrals of children with more complex needs to relevant services.
  9. Escalate cases where the level of need or risk is beyond the scope of your practice.
  10. Provide information and support for evidence-based psychological treatments.
  11. Manage your caseload in conjunction with the requirements of the service.
  12. Attend multi-disciplinary and multi-agency meetings relating to referrals or children and young people in treatment.
  13. Keep clear, professionally coherent records of all activity.
  14. Assess and integrate issues relating to transitions, education, and training/employment into the overall therapeutic approach.
  15. Contribute to the development of individual or group clinical materials or training materials.
  16. Prepare and present case load information to supervisors.
  17. Engage in and respond to personal development supervision.
  18. Disseminate research and service evaluation findings in appropriate formats.
Requirements

We are looking for a qualified Education Mental Health Practitioner or Children's Wellbeing Practitioner with a relevant Post Graduate Diploma qualification and registration with a relevant professional body. You will have experience of working in and with schools, multi-agency work, and skills and experience of working with children, young people, and families around a range of emotional/mental health, behavioural, and additional health or developmental needs.
