Job Opportunity

West Hertfordshire Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust is seeking a highly skilled and motivated Biomedical Scientist to join our Haematology & Blood Transfusion team. The successful candidate will be responsible for practising as an HCPC Registered BMS in haematology/Blood Transfusion at Watford General and Hemel Hempstead Hospitals on a rotational basis.

Main Responsibilities

The post holder will work closely with the Biomedical Scientists Team Leaders to observe and implement the policies and procedures relevant to the role, including the Blood Transfusion Policy, the departmental Health & Safety Policy, and Quality Policy. They will also liaise with the Blood Sciences Manager, the Laboratory Operational Managers, the Training and Quality Leads, and Clinical and Nursing staff to develop and integrate the services provided by the Team.

Requirements

The ideal candidate will have a relevant degree to the profession, HCPC registration as a Biomedical Scientist, and participation in a CPD scheme. They will also have a good working knowledge of Haematology and Blood Transfusion Practice, Laboratory Health & Safety, and instrumentation and quality systems. Previous supervisory and/or teaching experience is desirable.
