Job Title: Biomedical Scientist - Haematology Training Lead

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Biomedical Scientist to join our team as a Haematology Training Lead. This is a full-time position (37.5 hours per week) that requires a strong background in Haematology and Blood Transfusion, as well as excellent training and coaching skills.

The successful candidate will have a thorough understanding of Haematology, Coagulation, and Blood Transfusion, as well as the requirements of ISO 15189 accreditation. They will be responsible for leading the development of competency assessments for all grades of staff to meet the standards of ISO 15189:2012/2022 accreditation.

Main Responsibilities:
  • To maintain an up-to-date knowledge of routine and developmental work within the laboratory and ensure competency levels through annual reassessment.
  • To perform analysis of National External Quality Assessment Schemes and Internal Quality Assurance Schemes, and take corrective action where necessary.
  • To monitor, record, and advise on the correct interpretation of results, and check, authorise, and release results according to departmental policy.
  • To follow departmental maintenance protocols to ensure equipment performs at an optimal level, and take corrective action when required.
  • To audit portfolios following planned schedules of training and education, and co-ordinate other BMS educational activities.
Key Requirements:
  • Relevant degree and HCPC registration as a Biomedical Scientist.
  • Fellowship of IBMS, MSc, or equivalent.
  • Participation in a CPD scheme.
  • IBMS Training Management Qualification or equivalent experience.
