Clinical Fellow in Respiratory Medicine

We are seeking an enthusiastic Clinical Fellow to join our Respiratory Department at St Bartholomew's Hospital, part of Barts Health NHS Trust. This is a 6-month fixed-term post starting in October 2024.
Job SummaryThis post is ideal for an aspiring respiratory physician, providing the perfect platform to experience and display all the skills expected of a specialty trainee. You will have opportunities to complete clinical audit and small-scale research projects with active clinical researchers within the department.
Main Duties- Provide evidence-based care, adhering to clinical and quality standards set out within the Clinical Academic Group (CAG) and Trust guidelines.
- Liaise effectively with colleagues within the Respiratory Department and other clinical specialties within the Trust.
- Maintain and promote team and multi-disciplinary work, working closely with consultant medical staff and members of the Acute Medicine and Respiratory Departments.
- Provide cover for annual and study leave of colleagues, as practicable.
- Continuing responsibility for the care of patients in your charge, including all administrative duties associated with patient care.
- Essential qualifications: MB BS or equivalent, MRCP or equivalent, registration with a medical defence organisation.
- Desirable qualifications: RCP Respiratory SCE.
- Eligibility: Full registration with the GMC.
- Language skills: Demonstrable skills in written and spoken English, adequate to enable effective communication about medical topics with patients and colleagues.
- Experience: At least 2 years' hospital experience at SHO (IMT) grade or higher, experience of working in Respiratory Medicine for at least 4-6 months.
- Desirable experience: Further experience in respiratory medicine, experience of management/leadership.
- Skills: Ability to develop good working relationships, good organisational skills.
- Desirable skills: Bronchoscopy/EBUS, pleural procedures, thoracic ultrasound.
- Knowledge: Completed IMT2 competencies or equivalent.
- Desirable knowledge: Completed IMT3 competencies or equivalent.
- Commitment to Clinical Governance/Improving Quality of Patient Care: Experience of the clinical audit process.
- Desirable commitment: Evidence of leading quality improvement, evidence of research experience, evidence of interest and experience in teaching all members of MDT.
