About the Role

The Executive Chef will lead the hospital catering team, ensuring the delivery of high-quality, nutritious meals to patients, staff, and visitors. This is a challenging and rewarding role that requires exceptional culinary skills, strong leadership abilities, and a passion for patient care.

Main Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement innovative menus that cater to a variety of dietary needs and preferences.
  • Lead and manage multiple kitchen teams, providing training, coaching, and performance development.
  • Manage food costs and inventory effectively, minimizing waste and optimizing ordering and sourcing.
  • Oversee kitchen operations, ensuring efficiency, cleanliness, and adherence to safety and hygiene regulations.
  • Liaise with hospital staff, including dietitians and nutritional therapists, to understand and meet patient needs.
  • Manage special events and catering, ensuring high-quality service and presentation.
  • Participate in the recruitment and onboarding of new kitchen staff, ensuring a smooth transition and effective training.
  • Comply with all legal, regulatory, and hospital policies and procedures, ensuring compliance with food safety and hygiene regulations.
  • Manage staff conduct issues and complaints, ensuring a positive and respectful work environment.
  • Seek ways to maintain strong and positive working relationships within the department, ensuring staff welfare and employee engagement.

Requirements

  • BTEC National Diploma in hotel/hospitality, catering, and institutional management or equivalent.
  • Supervisory level experience within a large-scale catering operation.
  • Experience in managing a diverse team, with excellent customer-focused skills and previous experience managing a food service environment.
  • Ability to lead a small team, with an eye for detail and excellent communication skills, face-to-face and written.
  • Able to work under pressure and motivate a team, with a passion for patient care and a commitment to delivering high-quality services.
