About the Role

As a Civil Engineering Design Director with the Orion Group, you will play a pivotal role in shaping the future of our civil engineering projects. Reporting directly to our Senior Management Team, you will lead and coordinate the design process, ensuring that all deliverables meet our project requirements and industry standards.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Drive collaboration and communication among stakeholders, including subcontractors, architects, engineers, and internal teams, to deliver high-quality, innovative, and compliant design solutions on time and within budget.
  2. Manage design risks, resolve technical challenges, and ensure the seamless integration of all design elements to achieve successful project outcomes.
Design Coordination and Management
  • Oversee the development and delivery of design packages, ensuring compliance with project requirements, timelines, and quality standards.
  • Act as the primary point of contact between the company and other design teams, including subcontractors, architects, and engineers.
Stakeholder Collaboration
  • Foster effective communication and collaboration among project stakeholders, including internal teams, consultants, and external partners.
  • Organize and lead design coordination meetings, workshops, and progress reviews.
Design Review and Approval
  • Review and approve design submissions from subcontractors and consultants, ensuring they meet project specifications, client requirements, and regulatory standards.
  • Identify and resolve design discrepancies, conflicts, and technical issues promptly.
Budget and Cost Management
  • Monitor design-related costs and work with the project team to manage design budgets effectively.
  • Provide input on cost estimates, value engineering, and design optimization opportunities to achieve cost savings.
Documentation and Reporting
  • Maintain comprehensive records of design documentation, including approvals, revisions, and communications.
  • Prepare and present regular design progress reports to the company and other stakeholders.
Requirements
  • A degree or qualification in Architectural design, civil or structural engineering.
  • Additional training in BIM, AutoCad or similar software.
Estimated Salary:

£80,000 - £100,000 per annum (dependent on experience)
