We are seeking a dedicated and empathetic individual to join our team as a Volunteer Mentor in the South West region. As a Volunteer Mentor, you will play a vital role in supporting participants who are seeking to improve their lives and avoid being trapped in a cycle of criminality.
Our main focus is to provide access to accommodation and housing, and we believe that everyone should have the opportunity to build a better future, regardless of their past choices or the challenges they currently face.
Key Responsibilities- Attend appointments with participants and provide personalized support
- Offer literacy and numeracy support, including filling in forms
- Encourage engagement and remind participants of appointments
- Provide practical and emotional support to participants
- Support participants in finding employment, apprenticeships, or volunteer placements
- Support participants in finding private accommodation
- Demonstrate empathy and use tact and discretion when dealing with confidential and sensitive issues
- Communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing, with good listening skills
- Input and maintain computer-based information systems in an accurate and timely manner
- Exercise authority and reinforce boundaries in an appropriate manner
- Work independently and cope with stressful situations
