Electrical and Mechanical Technician

We are seeking a skilled Electrical and Mechanical Technician to join our Infrastructure team at West Midlands Metro. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for ensuring the smooth operation of our electrical and mechanical systems, including maintenance and repair work to our network.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Perform electrical and mechanical maintenance and repair work to our network, ensuring all tasks are completed in a timely and safe manner.
  • Ensure inspection and maintenance tasks are completed in accordance with the planned maintenance schedule.
  • Carry out maintenance and repairs to West Midland Metro electrical and mechanical infrastructure and equipment, including traction power substations.
  • Oversight of contractors carrying out planned works on electrical and mechanical equipment.
  • Assist with the testing and commissioning of new systems.
  • Switching of electrical substations.
  • Assist with the development and continued improvement of the Asset Management Information System.
  • On-call duties.
Requirements:
  • Good working knowledge and competence in electrical systems.
  • Ability to read and understand electrical schematics.
  • GCSE Maths, English, and Science at Grade C/4 or above.
  • Recognised Electrical qualification at Level 3 or above.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, able to communicate effectively at all levels within and outside of the company.
  • A full driving license.
Desirable Qualifications:
  • Experience working in an industrial electrical maintenance environment.
  • Qualified to 18th Edition (Wiring regulations).
  • High Voltage Authorised Person training.
  • IOSH.
