About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Electrical and Mechanical Technician to join our team at West Midlands Metro. As a key member of our Infrastructure department, you will be responsible for ensuring the smooth operation of our electrical and mechanical systems.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform routine maintenance and repairs to electrical and mechanical equipment, including traction power substations.
  • Ensure all tasks are completed in a timely manner and in compliance with our planned maintenance schedule.
  • Oversee contractors carrying out planned works on electrical and mechanical equipment.
  • Assist with the testing and commissioning of new systems.
  • Switch electrical substations as required.
  • Contribute to the development and improvement of our Asset Management Information System.
  • Participate in on-call duties as needed.
Requirements
  • Good working knowledge and competence in electrical systems.
  • Ability to read and understand electrical schematics.
  • GCSE Maths, English, and Science at Grade C/4 or above.
  • Recognised Electrical qualification at Level 3 or above.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, able to communicate effectively at all levels.
  • A full driving license.
Desirable Qualifications
  • Experience working in an industrial electrical maintenance environment.
  • Qualified to 18th Edition (Wiring regulations).
  • High Voltage Authorised Person training.
  • IOSH.
