Automotive Field Applications Engineer

We are seeking a highly skilled Automotive Field Applications Engineer to support our Strategic & Key Account in Ireland.

As a Field Applications Engineer, you will be the bridge between product development groups and top automotive customers in EMEA. Your primary goal is to win new business through proactive in-depth design and development support that will solve customer challenges.

This requires a profound knowledge of the customer development process: you need to be familiar with all the aspects of the product lifecycle, from development to mass production.

In this role, you will be responsible for actively driving and managing the technology proposal and evaluation stage (e.g. early engagement) with the engineering teams working in conjunction with the account teams as the key technical advisor and system advocate for a wide range of commercial and passenger vehicle applications.

The Automotive FAE must be able to identify customer platform requirements (hardware and software) and work closely internally with Analog Devices Business Units and Systems Engineering.

You will build trust, establish and maintain strong relationships with Tier 1 customers as well as ADI internal automotive Business Units.

You will need to invest in your product and system level knowledge on an ongoing basis through the various training and development opportunities.

You will help the customer to solve complex problems integrating Analog Devices solutions into customer systems.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Establishing and maintaining customer relationships, organizing on-site visits to provide customer service and sales support
  • Understanding the customer hardware and software requirements and developing hardware and software solutions leveraging our vast portfolio
  • Performing customer's schematic and layout review in collaboration with the Business Units
  • Generating high-quality documentation such as technical presentation, application notes and meeting notes
  • Listening, understanding and conveying customer requirements with a strong focus on both HW and SW identifying customer's needs and translating them into specifications and/or design ideas for our automotive BUs.
  • Traveling to customer sites supporting deep technical Automotive technology discussions to resolve customer issues or difficulties in a manner that is aligned with the ADI automotive strategy
  • Maintaining professional business relationships with experts at several OEM and Tier 1 customers in close cooperation with Global and Key Account Managers

Requirements:

  • BSc/BEng/MSc in Electrical/Electronic Engineering
  • Work experience >10 years in engineering with semiconductor and/or automotive industries
  • Good knowledge of analog and digital electronic design
  • Good understanding of software design and its application with electronic embedded systems
  • Good understanding or power architectures and power electronic design experience
  • Good understanding of common digital interfaces as well as Analog principles like ADC/DACs
  • Available for travel 50% of working time
  • Driving license required
  • Languages: English (min)
