The role of an Emergency Dispatcher Assistant with South Central Ambulance Service NHS Foundation Trust requires individuals who can work effectively in a pressurised and quick-moving environment. As part of our team, you will be responsible for assigning ambulance resources to patients and communicating with ambulance crews using radio, text, telephone, and computer-aided dispatch systems.

Duties and Responsibilities
  • You will support emergency dispatchers by following their instructions and assisting with their duties.
  • Assist in ensuring systems are maintained and alterations to vehicle movements can be made if advised by the emergency dispatcher.
  • Operate radio and computer-assisted systems on behalf of the emergency dispatcher to ensure accurate information is logged.
Qualifications and Requirements
  • GCSE grades 4-9 or equivalent in Maths and English are required.
  • Customer service experience from a telephone or face-to-face role is beneficial.
  • Ability to multi-task and manage competing priorities is crucial.
  • Familiarity with the geographical area is necessary.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills are required.
  • Ability to listen and record information accurately is important.
Salary and Benefits
  • The starting salary for this role is £22,816 per annum, rising to £24,336 per annum.
  • Full training and ongoing support are provided.
  • Holiday entitlement includes 27 days rising to 29 days after 5 years and 33 days after 10 years, plus 8 bank holidays (pro rata for part time).
  • Enrolment into the NHS Pension Scheme is available.
