About The Role

We are seeking a caring and approachable individual to join our team as a Group Support Volunteer, supporting people affected by dementia in Mitcham, Greater London.

This rewarding role involves welcoming and engaging with individuals at our weekly seated exercise group, ensuring they feel comfortable and supported throughout. Your friendly presence will help create a sense of community, allowing participants to access the support and information they need while enjoying meaningful activities.

The group meets every Wednesday afternoon from 3-5pm at the Merton Memory Hub, where you will be an integral part of making a positive impact on the lives of those affected by dementia.

Key Responsibilities
  • Welcome and engage with group members, providing emotional support and encouragement.
  • Assist with setting up and tidying away after each session.
  • Help ensure refreshments are available for participants.
Requirements

To be successful in this role, you should possess excellent communication skills, empathy, and a genuine interest in supporting individuals affected by dementia. A flexible and reliable approach is also essential.

Working Arrangements

This is a volunteer opportunity that requires a regular commitment of approximately 2 hours per week. You will work closely with our dedicated team to ensure the smooth delivery of our services.
