About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Community Outreach Specialist to join our team in Fenland and Huntingdonshire, supporting individuals living with dementia to access help and resources they need to live independently.

As a key member of our community engagement team, you will be responsible for raising awareness about dementia, working closely with local organizations, and developing support networks to make communities more dementia-inclusive.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Organize and promote local events to raise awareness about dementia, collaborating with community groups and local authorities.
  • Navigate the complexities of local services, providing information and connecting people with dementia-related resources.
  • Produce engaging content for village newsletters, posters, and flyers to promote events and raise awareness about dementia.
  • Deliver and facilitate Dementia Friends sessions within the community, fostering understanding and empathy towards those affected by dementia.
  • Attend meetings with various stakeholders, including health, social care, local government, and voluntary sector representatives.

About You

To succeed in this role, you should have:

  • The ability to travel extensively throughout Fenland and Huntingdonshire, with access to your own vehicle.
  • Confidence in public speaking and presenting to groups.
  • Excellent organizational and promotional skills.
  • A genuine passion for making a difference in the lives of people affected by dementia.
  • Familiarity with networking and establishing local contacts.
  • Experience working with diverse communities, particularly those from underrepresented groups.
  • An understanding of community development principles and practices.
  • Proficiency in MS Office packages and patient databases/customer records systems.

Salary: £25,000 - £30,000 per annum
