Job Title: Specialty Doctor in Oncology

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Specialty Doctor in Oncology to join our team at Gloucestershire Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust.

Job Summary

The successful candidate will be responsible for working as part of the Oncology middle grade team, providing care to patients at Cheltenham General Hospital and Hereford County Hospital. The role will involve supervising and prescribing systemic treatment, radiotherapy planning, and supervising patients receiving radiotherapy. The post will also provide opportunities to train in practical procedures, including pleural and ascitic drainage.

Key Responsibilities
  • Supervise and prescribe systemic treatment for patients with cancer
  • Plan and deliver radiotherapy treatment for patients with cancer
  • Supervise patients receiving radiotherapy treatment
  • Train in practical procedures, including pleural and ascitic drainage
  • Participate in clinical trials and research studies
Requirements
  • MBBS or equivalent medical qualification
  • FRCR part 1
  • Full GMC Registration
  • FRCR part 2
  • At least 3 years of working in Oncology
  • Experience of palliative radiotherapy planning
  • Experience of independent assessment of patients and prescribing their systemic treatment for cancer
  • Experience of radical radiotherapy planning

  • Experience in making clinical decisions and managing risk
  • Capacity to work effectively in a multi-professional team
  • Evidence of interest in palliative medicine
