Job Description

This is an exciting opportunity to join AWE Plc's Waste Services Group as a Radiological Waste Specialist. In this role, you will be responsible for managing the review, sentencing, and consignment of radioactive solid and non-aqueous waste, as well as ensuring compliance with third-party waste acceptance criteria.

The successful candidate will have a strong background in hazardous waste operations, excellent analytical skills, and a proven ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment. They will also need to possess excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders.

About the Role

As a Radiological Waste Specialist, you will work closely with our RA Waste Operations Manager to develop and implement effective waste management strategies that meet regulatory and business requirements. This will involve identifying and assessing assay requirements, evaluating waste suitability for external consignment, and ensuring compliance with all relevant laws and regulations.

You will also be responsible for coordinating resources and governance bodies to facilitate the export of RA waste, while ensuring AWE remains within its permits and authorizations.

Requirements
  • Working knowledge of hazardous waste operations.
  • Experience utilising a database to interpret and manipulate information.

The ideal candidate will also have a good understanding of health and safety practices and a flexible approach to working in a priority-changing environment.
