Strategic Commercial Manager

About the Role:
We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Commercial Manager to join our team at Kainos. As a key member of our commercially focused in-house legal team, you will be responsible for providing pragmatic and commercially focused advice to internal and external stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities:
- Act as a trusted business advisor: Building strong trusted relationships with internal and external stakeholders, working collaboratively to effectively support business priorities.
- Provide commercially focused advice: Maintaining a broad business acumen focus and providing pragmatic advice to support business growth.
- Lead strategic meetings: Ensuring a clear understanding of strategic targets and priorities and supporting delivery of revenue targets.
- Commercialisation and implementation: Leading on the commercialisation and implementation of new offerings and taking ownership of drafting, reviewing, and negotiating strategic and complex contracts.
- Support team and workload management: Supporting the Global Head of Commercial on team and workload management and leading on strategic and non-legal projects with a commercial focus or value-add aspect.
- Risk analysis and compliance: Undertaking risk analysis of proposed commercial ventures and ensuring pragmatic company compliance with legal developments and new areas of law.
- Team leadership and development: Managing and supervising more junior members of the team and providing upskilling and QA of work of the wider Commercial team.
- Additional responsibilities: Assisting the Global Head of Commercial, General Counsel, and CFO as required.
Requirements:
- Qualified Solicitor: With significant post-qualification experience in a legal/advisory role.
- Demonstrable experience: Drafting, reviewing, and negotiating general commercial contracts.
- Strong team skills: Proven ability of managing and driving a high-performing team.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills: Building strong trusted relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
- Commercial awareness: A forward-thinking professional with the ability to act as a trusted business advisor to add value, manage risk, and drive business success.
- Additional requirements: Familiarity with areas of law such as IP law, data protection, and procurement law and previous experience working in a business or in-house environment.
