Therapist for Complex Communication Disorders

Job Summary:
We are seeking an experienced Speech and Language Therapist to join our interdisciplinary team at Active Care Group. As a specialist in neurorehabilitation, you will work with patients with acquired brain injury, traumatic brain injury, severe neurological conditions, complex stroke, and spinal cord injury.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide assessment and management of communication and swallowing disorders
- Develop evidence-led therapy programmes for patients at a specialist level, with an emphasis on multidisciplinary working to achieve the best outcomes for our patients
- Maintain high standards of clinical care in line with national guidance for excellence
- Named Therapist duties to ensure cohesive goal-setting and therapy and coordinating discharge
- Develop your skills in clinical supervision and informal mentoring of Speech and Language Therapy assistants and students
- Participate in internal training (induction, mandatory training, MDT in-service)
- Ensure all relevant codes of practice and regulations are upheld
- Participate in service delivery audit and quality improvement initiatives
- Keep people safe from harm and protect their human rights
Requirements:
- HCPC registration
- Previous experience of working in a neurorehabilitation setting
- Experience in working with aphasia, cognitive communication disorder, dysarthria, apraxia, and dysphagia is essential
- Specialist level dysphagia competency on RCSLT framework
- Ability to motivate patients over long periods
- Successful candidates will be required to undergo an Enhanced DBS
