The ideal candidate will have a Master's degree or equivalent in a relevant subject and be working towards a research Masters, PhD or equivalent postgraduate qualification. They will also have experience of teaching or working with students in a related role and clear evidence of small group, interactive teaching that supports independent thinking.
The salary for this role is £41 to £55 per hour, depending on experience and qualifications. Pay bands depend on subject knowledge and relevant teaching experience. Accommodation and travel expenses are not covered.
In this role, you will be responsible for planning your own course, creating engaging topics and teaching materials tailored to a class of up to 8 students aged 18-24. You will also be expected to create a positive, challenging experience with a productive learning environment and strong work ethic for students.
The key responsibilities of this role include:
- Teaching a short course in Biotechnology and Genetics, Business and Entrepreneurship Law, Mathematics, Medicine, or Neuroscience with undergraduate-level international students.
- Planning your own course, creating engaging topics and teaching materials tailored to a class of up to 8 students aged 18-24.
- Creating a positive, challenging experience with a productive learning environment and strong work ethic for students.
- Facilitating university-style study by setting sufficient and challenging pre-course work and independent study throughout the course.
- Providing feedback to support students' academic development.
We are looking for someone who is enthusiastic about sharing their subject expertise with ambitious young people, takes an inclusive, question-led approach to teaching based on student contribution, understands the range of subject knowledge and of different 18-24 year olds, and is comfortable explaining complex concepts to non-specialists.
