About the Role

The Chelmsford City Council is seeking a skilled Private Sector Housing Assistant to join its Strategic Housing Service. As a key member of the team, you will provide vital support to the Private Sector Housing Officer in acquiring private-owned homes to help the Council meet its duties to those at risk of homelessness.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist the Private Sector Housing Officer in acquiring private-owned homes to support the Council's homelessness duties.
  • Develop and maintain effective relationships with private landlords and property owners.
  • Provide administrative support to the team, including data entry, record-keeping, and reporting.
  • Contribute to the development of strategies to acquire private-owned homes and support the Council's homelessness prevention efforts.

Requirements

  • Good knowledge and experience of working in the housing/property sector.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work in a front-line, customer-facing role.
  • Strong administrative and IT skills.
