About the Role

This on-going contract opportunity offers an hourly pay rate of £19.72 (PAYE) / £25.10 (Umbrella) and requires working Monday to Friday (days) for 50 hours per week.

Key Responsibilities

As a Train Maintenance Technician, you will work in a live rail depot to ensure the safety of passengers and crew by configuring and testing critical train systems before they enter service.

  1. Configure and test essential vehicle control systems required for movement, including the train braking system
  2. Check defect reporting systems designed to advise known safety defects or restrictions applicable to the movement of the Train
  3. Inspect the presence of external equipment and systems connected to the vehicle or in its path
  4. Verify the correct operation of windscreen clearing/cleaning equipment
  5. Ensure the safe condition of passenger and traincrew accommodation
  6. Conduct door systems checks
  7. Perform Oil level checks and carry out Oil changes
  8. Check Water levels
  9. Run diagnostics checks using a laptop
  10. Carry out basic Heating & Ventilation modifications
  11. Carry out basic seating modifications and Grab rail modifications
  12. Inspect Driver seats, Wiper motors, Couplers, and Actuators

Person Profile/Experience

Prior experience in Rolling Stock maintenance is preferred but not essential. Engineers with mechanical experience from various industries, such as Aviation, HGV, PCV, Marine, Plant, or Armed Forces, will be considered.
