We are seeking a motivated Science Graduate to join our team as a Teaching Assistant at an Ofsted-rated "Good" secondary school in Levenshulme. Key Responsibilities:- Classroom Support: Work closely with science teachers to assist in delivering lessons across subjects like Biology, Chemistry, and Physics. Your role will include helping students understand complex scientific concepts and ensuring they stay engaged and focused during lessons.
- One-on-One and Group Tutoring: Provide targeted support to students who may need extra help with their science coursework. This may involve working with small groups or offering one-on-one assistance to ensure students grasp difficult topics and improve their academic performance.
- Laboratory Assistance: Assist in the setup and supervision of laboratory experiments. Ensure that students follow safety protocols and help them understand the practical applications of scientific theories.
- Resource Preparation: Aid in the preparation of teaching materials, including worksheets, practical experiment setups, and revision aids. Your contributions will help enhance the learning experience for students across all levels of ability.
- Progress Monitoring: Work with teachers to assess students' progress and identify areas where additional support is needed. Provide feedback to both students and teachers to help tailor future lessons and interventions.
- Behavioral and Emotional Support: Use your understanding of science and education to help manage classroom behavior and support students' emotional well-being. Assist in creating a positive and productive learning environment.
- Special Educational Needs (SEN) Support: Collaborate with the SEN department to support students with learning difficulties or disabilities in accessing the science curriculum. Tailor your approach to meet the specific needs of these students, ensuring they are included and supported in their learning.
- Extracurricular Activities: Participate in or help organize extracurricular science activities, such as science clubs, competitions, or field trips, to further engage students in the subject and foster a deeper interest in science.
Ideal Candidate:
- A recent graduate with a degree in a scientific discipline (Biology, Chemistry, Physics, or related field).
- Strong subject knowledge and a genuine passion for science.
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to explain complex concepts in an accessible and engaging manner.
- An enthusiastic and proactive approach to supporting students, with the ability to inspire and motivate learners of all abilities.
- A patient and empathetic attitude, particularly when working with students who may find the subject challenging.
- Experience working with young people, either through previous roles, volunteering, or academic placements, is highly beneficial.
- A desire to pursue a career in education, teaching, or a related field, with a commitment to personal and professional development.
