Job Title: Science Graduate Teaching Assistant

We are seeking a highly motivated and enthusiastic Science Graduate Teaching Assistant to join our team at a reputable secondary school in Levenshulme. This is a fantastic opportunity for a recent Science graduate to gain practical experience in a dynamic and supportive school environment.

Job Summary:

The successful candidate will work closely with the Science department to support students' learning across Biology, Chemistry, and Physics. This role provides an excellent opportunity for a Science graduate to develop essential skills in lesson planning, classroom support, and student intervention.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Assist in the planning and delivery of engaging Science lessons across Key Stages 3 and 4
  • Provide one-on-one or small group support to students to help them understand complex scientific concepts
  • Support students with varying levels of ability, including those who may require extra help in understanding coursework or preparing for exams
  • Assist with practical Science lessons, helping students with experiments and ensuring health and safety standards are met
  • Provide targeted intervention sessions for students who may be falling behind or need additional support in the lead-up to their GCSE exams
  • Work collaboratively with Science teachers to track and monitor student progress, providing feedback on individual performance
  • Contribute to the creation of engaging and interactive learning resources
  • Support teachers with marking, lesson planning, and preparing classroom materials
  • Help to manage student behaviour in the classroom, ensuring a positive learning environment
  • Assist with extra-curricular Science activities or clubs, contributing to the wider school community
Requirements:
  • A degree in a Science-related field (Biology, Chemistry, Physics, or similar) is essential
  • A genuine interest in supporting young people's learning and progress in Science
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to explain scientific concepts in a clear and accessible way
  • A proactive and patient approach to working with students of varying abilities
  • Experience working with young people, either in a school or other setting, is desirable but not essential
  • Strong organisational skills and the ability to work well as part of a team
  • A commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children
