Science Graduate Teaching Assistant – Full-Time Role in Chorlton-cum-Hardy

Teaching Personnel is excited to offer an opportunity for a Science Graduate Teaching Assistant to join a ‘Good’ Ofsted-rated secondary school in Chorlton-cum-Hardy. This full-time position starts in October and continues until the end of the academic year, with the potential to become permanent based on performance.

Key Responsibilities:

As a Science Graduate Teaching Assistant, you will work closely with the Science department to provide tailored support to students, helping them succeed in their studies. Your main responsibilities will include:

  • Providing one-on-one or small group support to students who need additional assistance in Science subjects such as Biology, Chemistry, or Physics
  • Assisting the classroom teacher with lesson preparation, ensuring that learning materials are engaging and accessible to all students
  • Supporting students with practical work in the Science labs, ensuring safety protocols are followed and helping to explain complex scientific concepts
  • Offering intervention sessions for students who require extra help in preparing for their Science GCSEs
  • Monitoring student progress and providing feedback to teachers to ensure students are on track to achieve their target grades
  • Assisting with behaviour management within the classroom to create a productive and positive learning environment
  • Encouraging students to develop a passion for Science and a deeper understanding of the subject matter
  • Contributing to the development of Science-related projects, experiments, and learning activities to enrich the students’ learning experience
  • Supporting the Science department with administrative tasks and helping to organise resources for lessons and assessments

What We’re Looking For:

  • A recent graduate with a degree in a Science-related subject (Biology, Chemistry, Physics, or similar)
  • A passion for Science and a strong interest in supporting students in their academic progress
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to explain scientific concepts in a clear and accessible manner
  • A patient, enthusiastic, and proactive approach to working with students of all abilities
  • Previous experience working with young people, particularly in a school or educational setting, is desirable but not essential
  • A desire to pursue a career in education or teaching is advantageous
