About the Role

We are seeking a dedicated and supportive Teaching Assistant to join our team at a special needs school in England. The ideal candidate will have experience working with children or adults with SEN needs, particularly those with SEMH profiles.

This is a full-time position, working Monday to Friday from 08:15 to 15:00, with after-school training on Wednesdays until 16:00. There may be opportunities for permanent employment for the right candidate.

Job Description

The successful applicant will be responsible for supporting children in the KS1 department, which is planned to open soon. Key attributes for this role include:

  • Experience of supporting children or adults with SEN needs and/or disabilities, especially in SEMH.
  • Comfortable working with students of all ages.
  • High expectations of children's progress, attainment, and behaviour.
  • The ability to use your own initiative, focusing on solving problems.
  • Patience, empathy, and good communication skills.
  • Organisation and resourcefulness, the ability to work under pressure with good time management skills and a sense of humour.
  • An understanding of confidentiality and safeguarding.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to build positive relationships.
  • Emotional resilience in working with challenging behaviours and attitudes.

The salary for this role is estimated to be around £22,000 - £25,000 per annum, inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This is a temporary position, but there may be opportunities for permanent employment for the right candidate.
