About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Psychiatry Specialist in Rehabilitation Services to join our multidisciplinary team at Tees Esk and Wear Valleys NHS Foundation Trust. This is an exciting opportunity for a motivated professional to contribute to patient care and promote recovery in our inpatient rehabilitation units across North and South Durham localities.

Main Responsibilities
  • To conduct comprehensive new patient assessments, including thorough history, mental state examination, and physical examination, adhering to trust policies.
  • To ensure continuous monitoring of patients' physical health, arranging further investigations or referrals as required.
  • To participate in the 24-hour Morning Report Out meeting, contributing to key decisions on patient care and management plans.
  • To complete medication reviews and monitor ongoing treatment.
  • To attend and actively engage in formulation meetings, MDT reviews, and discharge planning sessions.
  • To collaborate with community, inpatient, and specialist services within the Trust as clinically necessary.
  • To maintain accurate and timely record-keeping, documenting mental state examinations, risk assessments, management plans, and agreed actions.
  • To perform Mental Health Act assessments (for section 12 approved) and complete mental health tribunal reports.
  • To participate in the local on-call rota.

Requirements
  • Able to deliver undergraduate or postgraduate teaching and training.
  • Participated in continuous professional development.
Qualifications
  • MB BS or equivalent medical qualification.
  • At least 4 years postgraduate experience, including at least 2 years in a core psychiatry training programme in the UK or abroad.
  • MRCPsych or equivalent postgraduate qualification.

This role offers an estimated salary of £85,000 - £110,000 per annum, depending on experience.
