Job Summary

The Skin Unit at University Hospitals of North Midlands NHS Trust is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Senior Staff Nurse to join their well-established team. The successful candidate will have a strong clinical background in dermatology and plastic surgery, with a minimum of two years' post-registration experience.

Main Responsibilities
  • Deputise for the Unit Manager in the absence of the manager.
  • Develop, improve, and evaluate best practice within the unit.
  • Organise and participate in meetings as required.
  • Deliver and oversee care for patients with a wide variety of dermatological conditions.
  • Provide wound care to patients following plastic surgery, utilising expert clinical knowledge.
  • Assist in minor surgery and provide aftercare.
  • Take charge of the area in the absence of the Unit Manager.
  • Act as a role model, supporting and mentoring other staff as required.

Person Specification
  • Essential:
    • Two years' post-registration experience.
    • Excellent clinical and leadership skills.
    • Dermatology and plastic surgery experience.
    • Leadership experience.
  • Desirable:
    • NHS experience.
    • Patch Test competence.
    • UV Competence.
    • NHS IT systems experience.
