Job Description

We are seeking a highly skilled Fire Alarm Design Engineer to join our team at Protec Fire Detection PLC.

Key Responsibilities
  • To design and implement fire alarm systems that meet customer requirements and comply with relevant standards and regulations.
  • To manage the post-order design process from sales handover to completion, ensuring all documentation and drawings are produced and recorded in line with company standards.
  • To work closely with stakeholders to ensure a full understanding of scope documents and system design.
  • To maintain effective communication with internal and external customers, ensuring accurate and valid information is communicated at all times.
  • To represent the company consistently and positively to customers, in line with the Customer Care Requirements.
  • To ensure all documentation is accurately completed, stored, and provided to appropriate personnel when required.
Person Specification
  • Candidates shall be able to demonstrate the necessary qualifications, experience, skills, and traits to meet the requirements set below.
  • Requirements for the role shall be evidenced on the application form and in the interview process.
Qualifications
  • FIA Design certification is essential.
  • Technical/Engineering qualification is desirable.
Experience
  • Major project design experience is essential.
  • Multi-discipline design experience is essential.
  • Experience of working with Revit is desirable.
  • Experience of working within a building services environment is essential.
  • Experience of working with CDE's is essential.
Skills and Abilities
  • An excellent eye for detail is essential.
  • Self-motivated with an organised approach to managing workload is essential.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills are essential.
  • Competent using Microsoft Office packages including Word, Excel, and Outlook is essential.
  • Ability to confidently deal with difficult and stressful situations is essential.
  • The ability to maintain accurate records is essential.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with staff at varying levels throughout the company is essential.
  • Good interpersonal skills and the ability to work as part of a team is essential.
  • Ability to understand and interpret drawings from varying sources is essential.
  • Good working knowledge of mechanical and electrical engineer terminology is essential.
  • Ability to manage sensitive and confidential information is essential.
