Main Responsibilities

The Associate Dean (Assessment) will lead the assessment process within the relevant faculty across all campuses, ensuring high-quality standards are maintained. This involves collaborating with the Dean, Associate Deans, Programme and Cohort Leaders, and other departments to ensure all aspects of the assessment process meet GBS regulations and key regulators' expectations.

The successful candidate will take charge of managing the assessment process on a day-to-day basis, supporting, training, and developing team members within the faculty regarding assessment practices and procedures. They will also ensure marking is completed on time, marks are verified, and uploaded, and liaise with Programme and Cohort Leaders and Head of Student Success Tutors to ensure students' support activities and administration tasks are completed on time.

The Associate Dean (Assessment) will plan, organise, and monitor the successful execution of the schedule of assessment requirements, including moderation and verification processes. They will provide accurate information and advice on GBS and regulators' assessment policies, regulations, and processes relating to assessment. Additionally, they will chair assessment approval and verification meetings, monitor the timely implementation of actions, and contribute to the development and enhancement of policy and procedure.

The ideal candidate will have an appropriate qualification demonstrating substantial experience as an academic manager, relevant experience of quality assurance within a qualifications/training environment, and an understanding of faculty qualifications, requirements, and valid assessment. They will also possess a quality mindset, a passion for accuracy and attention to detail, and a substantial breadth of experience in the higher education sector at academic manager level.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Leading and managing the assessment process on a day-to-day basis
  • Supporting, training, and developing team members within the faculty
  • Ensuring marking is completed on time and marks are verified and uploaded
  • Liaising with Programme and Cohort Leaders and Head of Student Success Tutors
  • Planning, organising, and monitoring the successful execution of the schedule of assessment requirements
