Job Overview

We are seeking a skilled and compassionate Therapy Assistant to join our Older Persons Service team at University Hospitals Dorset. As a key member of our therapy team, you will play a vital role in supporting the rehabilitation and recovery of older adults in our care.

Main Responsibilities

  • Work alongside our experienced therapy team, including occupational therapists and physiotherapists, to deliver high-quality care to patients on our Older Persons Medicine wards.
  • Support patients with rehabilitation, preventing hospital-associated physical and cognitive deconditioning, and promoting independence and well-being.
  • Assist with home visits and administrative duties, such as equipment ordering and general organization.
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with patients, families, and healthcare professionals to ensure seamless care coordination.

Requirements

  • GCSE level education and basic skills in literacy and numeracy.
  • Previous experience working with older adults, preferably in an acute hospital or community setting.
  • Ability to work independently with daily guidance and supervision from qualified staff.
  • Effective time management skills and ability to prioritize tasks.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work as part of a team.
