We are recruiting Learning Support Assistants to join our specialist school in Ware, Hertfordshire. Our school caters for pupils with severe learning difficulties aged between 2 and 19 years who may have singular or multiple difficulties, including challenging behaviour and complex needs.

Job Overview

The role involves attending to pupils' personal needs, providing clerical/administrative support to the assigned teacher, and assisting with the planning and delivery of individual education plans. The successful candidate will also monitor and evaluate pupils' progress and maintain pupil records.

The ideal candidate will be willing and able to work towards getting any relevant qualifications, attending training, and taking responsibility for their own development. They should also be able to adapt their communication style and develop skills to suit the needs of the children and young people they are working with.

Key Responsibilities
  • Attend to pupils' personal needs, including social health, hygiene, first aid, and welfare matters
  • Provide clerical/administrative support to the assigned teacher, e.g. photocopying, typing, filing, and record keeping
  • Assist with the planning and delivery of individual education plans (or other pupil-specific plans)
  • Monitor and evaluate pupils' progress and maintain pupil records
