About the Role

This role offers a unique chance to join a business that genuinely cares about its staff and invests in their well-being. As a Health & Safety Manager, you will be responsible for maintaining positive measures to raise standards, ensuring compliance with OHSAS 18001 obligations and health & safety legislation.

Your key responsibilities will include supporting the monitoring of sites through proactive audits, addressing any issues and developing a construction phase health & safety plan before works start. You will also introduce initiatives to improve standards and ensure safe working practices, focusing on the proactive side of health & safety management.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement health and safety policies, procedures, and protocols to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and industry best practices.
  • Conduct regular risk assessments to identify potential hazards and develop mitigation strategies to minimize risks.
  • Collaborate with the supply chain to establish effective relationships and ensure continuous improvement in delivering safety solutions.
  • Provide training and guidance to operational staff, senior management, and support services on health and safety procedures and protocols.
  • Participate in supporting the business with regards to tenders and pre-qualification questionnaires (PQQ's) and tender submissions, as designated by Senior Safety Manager/Preconstruction Team.
  • Establish a schedule of weekly health & safety inspections to monitor progress and identify areas for improvement.
Requirements
  • Minimum of 5 years working as a Health & Safety Manager, with Major Project Civils experience.
  • NEBOSH General/Construction Certificate or NVQ Level 3 in Health & Safety.
  • Degree or equivalent in Environmental Management or Sustainability or IEMA Foundation Certificate.
Remuneration

The client is offering a competitive salary up to £72,000 + Car/Allowance + Package for the right candidate. This permanent full-time position is based in Carlisle, Cumbria, offering a great salary and benefits package, along with opportunities for career growth and professional development.
