Job Summary

We are currently recruiting for a Quarry and Asphalt Operations Manager to join and lead our maintenance team at our client's site.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage a team of 4 engineers and control health and safety requirements in respect of the full range of activities carried out
  • Instill a culture of inclusivity and respect within the team
  • Be proactive and hands-on in all maintenance activity, including Planned Preventative Maintenance (PPM), defect and risk management, breakdowns, Root Cause Analysis (RCA), and project engineering work
  • Monitor and maximise productivity of processes, making cost-effective use of resources, products, and equipment
  • Drive achievement of optimum Overall Operations Effectiveness (OOE) and Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE)
  • Communicate performance targets and KPIs to the team through meetings, briefings, and site objectives
  • Supervise maintenance activities
  • Complete plant and vehicle maintenance checks and inspections as required
  • Apply basic maintenance practices, including check levels, parts, wear, pressure & sensors, grease, and lubricate equipment
  • Undertake and review maintenance inspections and report defects
  • Monitor and report key successes and deficiencies across the site (performance, product, equipment, people) to management
  • Control production costs, including temporary labor and overtime
  • Maintain Health and Safety rules and regulations and ensure all Safe Systems of Work are signed off and complied with
  • Lead, manage, and develop a team, optimising engagement, and overall team performance
  • Lead in resolving complex technical issues or failures as they arise
  • Build and maintain strong working relationships with all internal and external stakeholders
Requirements
  • Experience in a managerial role within a similar heavy manufacturing industry
  • Line management experience essential
  • Mechanical, Pneumatic, and Hydraulic systems knowledge
  • Experience in crushing, screening, and other heavy plant equipment
  • HNC/HND and/or recognised apprenticeship or BEng advantageous
  • Ability to challenge people, hold them accountable for job completion, and quality of completion
  • Proven computer literacy - familiarity with MS Word and Excel
  • Strong communication skills to engage with stakeholders at all levels both internally and externally
  • Flexible approach to ensure productivity is maximised
  • Positive, proactive can-do attitude in dealing with your team and other stakeholders
  • Continuous Improvement techniques, Lean methodology, Six Sigma, and FMEA and Root Cause Analysis investigative methods
