Clinical Support Worker Assistant

We are seeking an enthusiastic and motivated Clinical Support Worker to join our Acute Medical Unit team. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to develop their clinical skills, receive structured appraisal, support, mentorship, and training.
The main role of the Clinical Support Worker will include providing fundamental nursing care to our inpatients with all activities of daily living, acting in emergency situations, and supporting the registered nursing staff to deliver a high standard of care to all patients.
Key responsibilities include:
- Providing direct patient care, including all activities of daily living
- Working in support of and under the direction of a Registered Nurse (RN), providing nursing care and assistance to patients within defined parameters specified by the Registered Nurse
- Performing clinical skills such as observations, recording blood sugars, ECGs, etc.
- Recording patient information
- Providing basic patient care and documenting that care in the patient records
- Helping to ensure the unit is clean, safe, tidy, and a comfortable environment
- Working effectively with the multidisciplinary team to achieve desired outcomes that promote the well-being of patients
- Assisting RNs in the delivery of care to a designated patient group, demonstrating an ability to prioritize such care
- Assisting in the implementation of direct clinical care
- Determining the comfort of patients by talking and listening to them and building up a rapport
- Assisting in feeding patients who are unable to do so themselves and completing food charts where necessary
About the Role
This is an exciting opportunity for someone who is keen to work within the acute setting and be a support to both the Clinical Support Workers team and the Nursing team alike.
Salary and Benefits
The salary for this position is estimated to be around £23,000-£25,000 per annum, depending on experience. We operate from three main hospitals - Furness General Hospital (FGH) in Barrow, the Royal Lancaster Infirmary (RLI), and Westmorland General Hospital (WGH) in Kendal.
