Healthcare Assistant

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Healthcare Assistant to join our team at South Bristol Rehabilitation units. As a key member of our multidisciplinary team, you will play a vital role in delivering high-quality, patient-centered care to individuals recovering from acute hospital admissions.
Main Responsibilities- Assist registered nurses and healthcare professionals in providing individualized holistic care with compassion, dignity, and respect.
- Contribute to the prevention of harm by participating in risk assessments, such as nutrition, pressure area care, continence, and falls.
- Support patients with their care and nutritional needs, ensuring accurate recording of physiological observations and timely escalation to registered nurses.
- Assist patients in mobilizing safely using equipment and techniques prescribed and recorded in their plan of care.
- Promote a culture of ambulatory care by supporting patients to be as independent as possible with washing, dressing, and encouraging mobility from admission.
- Assist in the provision of prescribed programs of care, such as rehabilitation and therapy goals, under supervision and guidance.
- Support patient-centered rehabilitation to facilitate safe and timely discharges, reflecting individual choice and maximizing independence.

Requirements- Level 2/3 NVQ in Health and Social Care (Adults) or equivalent experience.
- Significant experience of providing care in a formal healthcare or social setting.
- Able to work under pressure and high demand.
- Committed to providing high-quality, safe, and effective patient care.
- Able to communicate clearly and effectively with a variety of service users with a range of communication needs and/or cultural backgrounds.
- Experience in supporting service users with a range of physical needs, different manual handling techniques, and a variety of transfer equipment.
- Ability to plan and prioritize effectively and efficiently individually and in a team environment.
- Previous experience working in rehabilitation.
- Experience in taking clinical observations and calculating NEWS scores.
