About the Role

We are seeking a skilled and compassionate Healthcare Assistant to join our team at Hartwood Healthcare. As a key member of our clinical services team, you will play a vital role in delivering high-quality patient care and supporting our healthcare professionals in their daily work.

Key Responsibilities

  • Undertake new patient health checks and provide accurate and timely information to healthcare professionals.
  • Support the practice nurse with health promotion programmes and provide education to patients on healthy lifestyle choices.
  • Carry out baseline observations such as pulse oximetry, blood pressure, temperature, pulse rate, and record findings accurately.
  • Facilitate routine and 24-hour BP monitoring, advising patients accordingly.
  • Undertake wound care, dressings, and other clinical tasks as required.
  • Support the practice nurse with the management of chronic disease clinics and provide administrative support as needed.
  • Carry out BMI checks as directed and provide feedback to patients on their results.
  • Act as a chaperone as required and provide a safe and supportive environment for patients.
  • When trained, undertake venepuncture, administer flu vaccinations, and carry out ear irrigation under the supervision of the practice nurse.
  • Carry out ECGs as requested and ensure that all clinical rooms are adequately stocked and prepared for each session.
  • Ensure fridges are cleaned routinely in accordance with extant guidance and clinical waste is removed from clinical areas and sharps bins replaced in accordance with the practice IPC policy.
  • Deliver opportunistic health promotion where appropriate and participate in practice audit as directed by the audit lead.
  • Support and participate in shared learning within the practice and complete opening and closing procedures in accordance with the duty rota.
